Barentz to distribute Hexigone’s US-patented anticorrosion technology
August 2, 2022
Hexigone, an innovative corrosion inhibitor manufacturer, is pleased to announce the granting of a new US patent as well as an exclusive distribution agreement with Barentz - a leading specialty chemicals distributor. Barentz will distribute Hexigone's Intelli-ion AX1 corrosion inhibitors across the United States and Central America.
Corrosion is an annual $2.2T global issue, and Barentz'ability to understand the challenges that customers face and passion in finding solutions for them, makes them a perfect partner for Hexigone. Currently, they are working with greater than 3,000 coatings companies in the region and are excited about the performance and cost benefits that Hexigone's technology can offer their customers.
Patrick Dodds, CEO at Hexigone, adds: "We are thrilled to have partnered with Barentz in the United States and Central America. New and existing customers will have a regional supply chain and an impressive technical sales team to work with."
"Barentz is very excited to enter into this new distribution agreement with Hexigone Inhibitors," Thomas Papasso, Vice President Principal Management, said. "Hexigone Inhibitors has developed an innovative and differentiated technology which allows Barentz to offer a better solution to meet the challenges of our customers."
This is the third patent that Hexigone Inhibitors holds. In May 2022, the company was granted U.S. Patent No. 15/768, 152 for Novel Corrosion Inhibitors, following the same patent being granted in the UK in January 2022.
"We are pleased that Hexigone is getting granted patents in recognition of the unique approach of our anticorrosion technology," said Dr Patrick Dodds. "Through co-blending or complete replacement of current phosphate-based inhibitors, coatings customers can reformulate for environmental, cost or sustainability benefits."
Hexigone's inhibitors help protect metal assets for longer by manufacturing high-performance anti-corrosive additives for coatings - providing the industry with safe, cost-effective alternatives to heavy metals, phosphates, and toxic chromates.
Corrosion inhibitor - Intelli-ion®AX1 - protects in a 'smart' way and is completely unique to the market. Intelligent micro-reservoirs enable the coatings to react faster to the environment, triggering the release of the inhibitor on demand. The technology hasn't gone unnoticed and Hexigone are already supplying coatings companies worldwide - as well as winning Materials Performance's (MP) Corrosion Innovation of the Year in 2021.
Hexigone was advised by Thomas Baker, Director, Patents at UDL Murgitroyd.
About Hexigone Inhibitors Ltd.
Hexigone manufactures smart, sustainable, and highly effective corrosion inhibitors.
The award-winning technology fights corrosion when used in primers with full system barrier topcoats and DTMs with applications in general industrial, protective, marine, coil and powder coatings.
The protection mechanism is fast, smart and completely unique on the market. It utilises reservoir systems that can hold onto corrosion-inhibiting chemicals previously incompatible with coatings. The inhibitors can be used to completely replace existing inhibitors or co-blend with phosphate-based systems to deliver cost and environmental benefits.
Established in 2015, the company now works with 11 distributors globally and are moving quickly to fulfil their vision to create safe, more sustainable communities through chemical intelligence.
